Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Multifunction Transmission Range Switch (F125)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Setting Gauge (T10173)
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
Removing
For the sake of clarity, the graphic shows the transmission removed.
- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.
- Remove the nut - 4 -.
- Remove the cover - 3 - from the selector shaft.
- Carefully bend back the hooks on the lock washer - 1 - using a screwdriver.
If a hook breaks, the washer must be replaced.
- Now, remove the nut - 2 - and lock washer - 1 - from the selector shaft.
- Disconnect the connector from the multifunction transmission range switch - arrow A -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows B - and the switch - arrow A - from the selector shaft.
Installing and Adjusting
- Position the selector shaft lever on the transmission in the "N" position.
- Install the multifunction transmission range switch onto the selector shaft.
- Tighten the bolts - arrows B - for the multifunction transmission range switch by hand.
- Install the setting gauge (T10173) on the selector shaft.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable.
- Turn the multifunction transmission range switch - A - until the tab on the connector - arrow 1 - locks into the groove on the setting gauge (T10173).
- Tighten the multifunction transmission range switch bolts - arrows -.
- Now, remove the setting gauge (T10173) from the selector shaft.
- Install the selector lever cable.
Further installation is performed in the reverse order.
