Intake Manifold Flap Vacuum Actuator, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)

Conditions

• The intake manifold runner control valve was checked using "Guided Fault Finding" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

Test Sequence

If the intake manifold runner control valve is OK:

- Disengage the coolant hoses - A - and pry out the cover - arrow -.






- Position the slide ring - 1 - on the hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) in the - A - position for "vacuum".






- Connect the hand vacuum pump to the vacuum actuator - arrow -.






- Operate the vacuum pump several times. Operating the plunger must move in the direction of the arrow.

- Disconnect the hand vacuum pump from the vacuum actuator. Operating plunger must spring back into its initial position.

- If the operating plunger does not move as described, replace the actuator.
