Battery, Removal







Removal

Always refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog for the correct replacement part designation.

The new battery data must be entered into the data bus on board diagnostic interface control module after replacing the battery. Adapt the battery data. Refer to => [ Battery Data, Adapting ] Programming and Relearning.

Risk of injury. Follow all Warnings and Safety Precautions. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

Always follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

- Remove the left front seat.

- Cut open the carpet where shown - arrows -.






- Fold back the carpet, open the latches on the battery case - arrows - and remove the cover.






- Disconnect negative ( - ) terminal - 1 - from battery.






- Disconnect positive ( B+ ) terminal - 2 - from battery.

- Disconnect central gas vent hose - arrow - from top cover.






- Remove bolt - 1 - and battery bottom rail bracket - 2 -.






- Remove bolt - 1 - and retainer bracket - 2 -.






- Fold battery handles - arrows - upward.






- Hold the battery by the handles and lift it out of the battery case.
