Upper Control Arm, Vehicles with an Air Spring Shock Absorber
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Wheel hub support (T10149)
• Ball joint puller (T10187)
• Engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)
Removing
- Activate the vehicle lift mode and place the vehicle on the lifting platform. Refer to => [ Vehicle Lift Mode ] Description and Operation.
- Loosen the wheel bolts.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove the wheel housing liner..
- Pull the pin - 2 - for the left front level control system sensor/right front level control sensor (G78/G289) downward and unclip the coupling rod at the upper control arm.
- Remove the air spring damper. Refer to => [ Air Spring Damper ] Air Spring Damper.
- Unscrew the bolts - arrows - and remove the upper control arm - 1 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Tighten the upper control arm/body threaded connection when dimension - a - between the upper control arm and body is reached.
a 4.65 in
- Install air spring shock absorber. Refer to => [ Air Spring Damper ] Air Spring Damper.
- Install the front wheel and tighten the bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Torque Specification ] [1][2]Specifications.
