Right Flange Shaft Seal, Final Drive 0C1

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Slide Hammer-Complete Set (VW 771)
• Thrust Piece (T10259)
• Sealing Grease for Seal (G 052 128 A1)
Removing
- Remove the front final drive. Refer to => [ Front Final Drive ] Front Final Drive.
- Remove the right flange shaft using the slide hammer-complete set (VW 771).
- Remove the flange shaft seal using the slide hammer-complete set (VW 771).
Installing
- Install the new seal using the thrust piece (T10259).
- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips half way with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).
- Check the dust cap - arrow - for damage and replace it if necessary, before installing the flange shaft. Refer to => [ Right Flange Shaft Dust Cap ] Right Flange Shaft Dust Cap.
- Secure the flange shaft in a vice. Be sure to use jaw protectors - B -.
- Remove the circlip - A - using pliers.
- Install the new circlip into the groove in the flange shaft being careful not to overextend it.
- Install the flange shaft using a plastic hammer.
- Check the front final drive gear oil level. Refer to => [ Front Final Drive Gear Oil Level, Checking ] Front Final Drive Gear Oil Level, Checking.
- Install the front final drive. Refer to => [ Front Final Drive ] Front Final Drive.
