Acceleration Enrichment B28F

THIS SERVICE BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADIAN MARKETS AND SUPERSEDES SERVICE BULLETIN GROUP 25 NO. 101 DATED JULY, 1981

An enrichment device has been developed for the B28F. This device improves engine response during cold engine operation (below 53°C) 127°F.

When the throttle is depressed a vacuum switch actuates the Lambda Sond system (to control at a fixed duty cycle above 70°C) for a few seconds.

The device has been introduced for 1982 models and is also available in kits for 1980 and 1981 models under P/N 75081-0.

Installation Instructions

Assemble the vacuum switch and bracket.

Install the switch assembly to the inlet manifold.

Remove the vacuum hose from the vacuum T-piece. Install the rubber cap P/N 418646-6 and remove the hose and delay valve from the control pressure regulator and discard.

Install hose P/N 948958-4 (200 mm length) in place of the discarded parts.

Connect the new vacuum hose enclosed in the kit between the thermal control valve and the vacuum switch.

Use adapter P/N 1266008-0.

Install the harness.

Connect the vacuum switch blue wire to the blue wire on the ignition coil ballast resistor.

Install the bracket for the relay. Install and connect the relay.

Install the two wires to the Lambda Sond control box and through the rubber grommet in the firewall.

Connect the two wires to the multipin connector terminal 7 and 11. Use joint connector P/N 1586597-5 when connecting the red wire to the existing
wire on terminal 7.

Install new strips (P/N 948702-6) to the grommet.

Start engine and check the system. Connect a dwell meter. The duty cycle reading should increase for a moment when you rev the engine when cold. (Coolant temperature below 53°C) 127°F.
