Front strut lower spring seats are available under P/N 1330551-1 for 240/260 series only!

Prior to replacing the seat, the diameter of the strut should be measured at approximately 20 mm (3/4") above the spindle (clean surface to bare metal before measuring).

Minimum diameter = 52.0 +/- 0 mm (2-1/16")

If the diameter of the strut is less than this, the entire strut must be replaced.
M E T H O D


1. Remove the shock absorber. Hook the spring strut to the body with special tool 5045 according to Service Manual Section 6 (61).

2. Scrape off dirt from spring seat welds.

3. Mark line 5 mm (3/16") above underside of seat. (See Fig.).

4. Cut along line around entire seat. Use a power keyhole saw. IMPORTANT! Do not cut into strut.

5. Hammer free spring seat upwards.

6. Remove dirt around cut surface and along strut. Remove dirt from the drain hole on the inside of the support ring.

7. Position the new seat, guiding the lug into the drain hole. Firmly tap the seat into position.

8. Weld the new seat to the support ring at two points according to the illustration. Both welds should be approximately 10 mm (3/8") long.

9. Spray rust proofing component onto the new seat and around the welded section.

10. Refit shock absorber etc. according to Service Manual Section 6 (61).
