The terms for warranty replacement of glass are clearly outlined in the Warranty Administration Manual. A claim can be raised only in the case of a manufacturing defect in the glass or related part. Accordingly, glass which is damaged during removal or installation will not be considered.
On more recent model Volvo's where the windshield is Polyurethane adhesive bonded, the structural integrity of the passenger compartment will be affected if the windshield is reinstalled using butyl adhesive. Therefore, Volvo procedures must be used for replacement. Volvo dealers are asked to supply their sublet shop with copies of technical procedures if a shop is experiencing difficulties. VCNA experience with glass replacement confirms that success rates for windshield repair should reasonably reach at least 99%. Consequently, costs associated with installation problems must be resolved between the dealer and his sublet shop.
