MIRROR INTERFERENCE
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADA
REFERENCE: NONE
While being adjusted, the electrically operated mirrors can occasionally generate a voltage spike which causes a popping noise in the audio system.
In case of customer complaints, a suppression kit can be installed as follows:
REQUIRED PARTS: Description Part No. Quantity
Mirror Suppression Kit 1189897-0 1
(for two mirrors)
WORK PROCEDURE
1. Remove mirror glass from the side view mirror affected.
- press on lower edge of mirror so that gear is revealed in slit in bottom of mirror.
- move cogs to right with a small screwdriver and remove mirror glass.
2. Remove the 4 screws holding the motor assembly
3. Remove the motor assembly. Unplug the white/green (W/GN) wire from the motor assembly.
4. Cut off the connector from the wire as close to the connector as possible. Remove 6 mm (1/4") insulation from the wire.
5. Install the wire together with the suppression diode in a new connector supplied in the kit.
NOTE: The white marked end of the diode must face the green/white wire. Failure to do so will destroy the diode.
6. Crimp the connector with tool 999 9323.
Unplug the black (SB) wire from the motor assembly. Repeat steps 3-6 with the black wire and connect the unmarked end of the suppression diode to the black wire. Assemble in reverse order.
7. Install mirror glass
- align assembly lugs on rear of glass.
- depress lower edge of glass and move cogs to left.
- make sure that glass is firmly installed.
- check function.
