Adjust shift rod so there is equal distance between gear lever and its stop when lever is in Drive position and in 2 position, Fig. 2.

1. Check clearance between positions Drive and Neutral, Fig. 3, and between positions 3 and 2, Fig. 4. Clearance between positions Drive and Neutral should be the same or less than clearance between positions 2 and 3.
2. If clearance is correct, tighten adjusting locknut to 12 to 17 ft. lbs.
3. If there is no clearance at position Drive, move shift rod arm rearward approximately .08 inch (2mm). Tighten adjusting locknut to 12 to 17 ft. lbs.
4. If there is no clearance at position 3, move shift rod arm forward approximately .120 inch (3mm). Tighten adjusting locknut to 12 to 17 ft. lbs.
5. Ensure that vehicle starts in positions Park and Neutral and that reverse lamp lights in position R.
KICKDOWN CABLE
All Models
1. Pull cable outward until slight resistance is felt, then while holding cable in this position, install cable clip .01-.04 inch from cable sheath end.

2. Adjust cable sheath position so clip is pulled out approximately 1.98-2.07 inches when throttle pedal is completely depressed, Fig. 5.
