Parking Lock Fails Or Is Delayed
1. Gearshift linkage improperly adjusted.
2. Parking brake improperly adjusted or damaged.
3. Defective front ring gear in planetary gear assembly.
No Drive In Any Forward Gear
1. Incorrect fluid level.
2. Kickdown cable improperly adjusted.
3. Gearshift linkage improperly adjusted.
4. One-way clutches damaged.
5. Contaminants in oil pan.
6. Damaged or clogged valve bodies.
7. Accumulator piston defective.
No Drive In 2 Or Drive (Cold Transmission)
1. Incorrect fluid level.
2. Kickdown cable improperly adjusted.
3. Gearshift linkage improperly adjusted.
4. Line pressure and/or stall speed incorrect.
5. One-way clutches damaged.
6. Contaminants in oil pan.
7. Valve body or secondary regulator valve defective.
8. Accumulator piston O-rings damaged.
No Drive In Reverse
1. Incorrect fluid level.
2. Kickdown cable improperly adjusted.
3. Gearshift linkage improperly adjusted.
4. Line pressure and/or stall speed incorrect.
5. Contaminants in oil pan.
6. Valve body defective.
7. Primary regulator valve, shift valve 2-3 or rear brake control valve clogged or damaged.
8. Accumulator piston C2 defective.
Delayed Or No Upshifts
1. Incorrect fluid level.
2. Kickdown cable improperly adjusted.
3. Gearshift linkage improperly adjusted.
4. Line pressure and/or stall speed incorrect.
5. Governor malfunctioning.
6. Contaminants in oil pan.
7. Valve body defective.
8. Primary throttle valve, throttle valve 1-2, shift valve 2-3 and/or primary regulator valve defective.
Harsh Engagement, Noisy Disengagement
1. Incorrect fluid level.
2. Gearshift linkage improperly adjusted.
3. Kickdown cable improperly adjusted.
4. Line pressure and/or stall speed incorrect.
5. Contaminants in oil pan.
6. Accumulator pistons defective.
7. Throttle and/or primary regulator valve defective.
Noisy Operation
1. High pitch squeal, increasing with engine speed; transmission in Neutral or Park:
a. Incorrect fluid level.
b. Oil filter clogged.
c. Oil pump defective.
d. Torque converter defective.
2. Burring noise. Engine running, transmission in Neutral or Park:
a. Flywheel drive flange damaged.
b. Torque converter contacting the cover.
c. Torque converter improperly installed.
3. Squawking noise. Engine running, transmission in Neutral or Park:
a. Torque converter bushing in oil pump worn.
b. Torque converter cover dowels loose or missing.
4. Steady low frequency noise, particularly at full throttle and in conjunction with low stall speed. Engine running, transmission in Drive or Reverse, brakes locked:
a. Torque converter stator slipping.
5. Metallic noise or knock in any gear except direct drive:
a. Damaged planetary gear tooth.
6. Rattling noise on takeoff:
a. Parking pawl partially engaged.
Oil Leaks
1. Oil leak, engine not running:
a. Faulty gasket or oil cooler connection.
2. Oil leak, engine running, transmission in Neutral or Park:
a. Fluid level excessive.
b. Oil pump bushing damaged.
c. Oil pump seal worn or damaged.
d. Torque converter neck damaged.
e. Torque converter improperly installed.
f. Oil filter tube damaged.
3. Oil leak while driving:
a. Rear extension housing gasket or oil seal damaged.
b. Oil seals damaged.
c. Fluid level excessive.
d. Oil pump bushing damaged.
e. Oil pump seal worn or damaged.
f. Torque converter neck damaged.
g. Torque converter improperly installed.
