Mechanical Overview




-Check the camshaft position relative to the crankshaft in accordance with the Service manual for that engine section.

-Check that the air intake and air filter are not clogged.

-Check that pre-heat vent is not open when the engine is warm.

If the camshaft position, air intake, air filter and vent are OK

-Connect the 3 gas meter LA2.

Connecting The 3 Gas Meter




-Connect the 3 gas meter before the TWC.

-Start the engine.

Read off the HC content when the engine is idling.

If the HC content is above 400 PPM

-Check the ignition coil, ignition leads, rotor and spark plugs.

If the HC content is under 400 PPM

-Connect the test box LA3

-Connect the test box.

-Check all signals to MFI LH 2.4/LH 3.1. Signal description MFI LH 2.4/LH 3.1 and all signals to DI EZ 116 k. Ignition Fault Messages Using the Volvo ST.
