Tools Required For Installation

TOOLS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION

This tool is used for threads M6 - M14

During some operations the tool must be disassembled by removing the locking ring, for example, with countersunk threads.

For M16 and larger threads, a different tool must be used for the threads required, including the nozzle and spindle.

LOCATE THREAD INSERT IN THE INSTALLATION TOOL

Locate the thread insert with the tang facing down in the tool.

Turn spindle until the tap grips in the recess.

Screw the thread insert in the nozzle, do not apply pressure, until the thread insert's first turn is flush with the nozzle opening.

A: Tang
B: Nozzle
C: Spindle

INSERT THREAD INSERT

Hold installation tool straight above and centered over the hole. Screw in insert without applying pressure on the spindle handle.

Screw in the insert until the end is at least a half turn into the thread.

The insert must not touch the bottom of the hole or stick out of the other side if it is a through hole.

Break off tang with the proper tang breaker. For M14 threads and larger use a pair of flatnosed pliers or similar and break downward.

EXTRACTION OF THREAD INSERT

File a notch in the thread insert, about 114 revolution in from the end. Do not file through the insert.

Take care not to damage the thread In the bore. Use a triangular scraper or similar to extract the insert by rotating it.

Clean out the threads in the hole with the thread tap and blow clean.

Install a new thread insert.
