Replacing Control Module Connector

REPLACING CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR OR TERMINAL IN CONNECTOR

Removal

Take apart control module box in accordance with A1-A4.

- Remove the rubber mat on the mounting.
- Undo the mounting, bend the two halves upwards slightly to free the catch.

Note:
Mark position of connectors before removal from module mounting plate.

- Turn mounting and press together control module connector catches.
- Slide the connector from the mounting.

TERMINAL REMOVAL




Release the secondary locking with a screwdriver.




There are two terminal types:

A. Single locking tab cavity (minitimer terminal)

- minitimer pos. 13, 14, 28, 29, 42, and 43

B. Double locking tab cavity (microtimer terminal)

- microtimer pos. 1-12, 15-27, and 30-41







Insert the terminal removal tool into the connector housing cavity from front side. Pull out the terminal from rear side.

Terminal Replacement

Replace terminal using Volvo crimp tool, p/n 9999323

- Cut off old terminal at end of insulation crimp for minimum wire length loss.
- Remove insulation.

Caution:
Care must be taken not to cut strands.

- Position stripped cable in new terminal.
- Hand crimp core wings and insulation wings at the same time using the Volvo crimp tool.
Insert terminal from rear side of connector until it audibly snaps into place (A).




Lock the secondary locking (B).

Install:




- connector in mounting.
- assemble mounting.
- silicon rubber mat on mounting.

Assemble the control module box in accordance with A7-A9.
