Engine Does Not Start
FAULT INDICATIONSEngine cranks normally but will not start. Symptom is permanent (not intermittent).
FAULT TRACING CONDITIONS
Before fault tracing, ensure that:
^ No diagnostic trouble codes are present,
^ The engine cranks normally (starter motor operates), and
^ The engine is mechanically sound (timing belt, compression, etc..).
^ All fuses are clean and intact.
FUEL PUMP
^ Open circuit in fuel pump relay wiring (supply, ground, or signal).
^ Fuel pump relay signal lead short circuited to ground or power supply.
^ Open circuit in fuel pump power supply or ground.
^ Excessive connector resistance at relay or fuel pump.
^ Bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay.
RPM SENSOR
^ Open circuit in ignition control module signal ground (signal wire grounded shield).
^ Open circuit in signal or ground lead.
^ Signal lead short circuited to ground or power supply.
^ Excessive connector resistance.
^ Faulty sensor.

^ Short circuit in ground or signal leads.
^ Poor terminal connections (excessive resistance).
^ Faulty power stage unit.
^ Faulty ignition coil.
^ Faulty secondary ignition components.
INJECTORS
^ Open circuit in injection control unit power/ground.
^ Short or Open circuit in vehicle speed sensor lead.
^ Short or Open circuit to injector ground or power supply.
^ Faulty injector(s).
MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR
^ Open circuit in sensor supply lead, signal lead, power ground or signal ground.
