Assembling the Equipment - Connecting Gauge

ASSEMBLING THE MEASURING EQUIPMENT

Operations:

- Assemble fuel pressure gauge 999 5011 and new adapter hose 951 2614.

- Use foam wrapping around the fuel pressure gauge and all metal joints to avoid scratching the interior of the car or damaging the exterior paintwork.

CONNECTING THE FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE

Operations:

- Remove the cover over the throttle pulley.

- Detach protective cap from the fuel pressure line nipple.

- Attach the adapter hose nipple loosely to the nipple on the fuel pressure line nipple. The nipple will be tightened later.

- Arrange hose as illustrated.

Note!
Ensure that the hose follows the rubber trim on the cowl cover and then out of the engine compartment at the rear comer of the hood, with the adapter hose joint at the T-valve outside the engine compartment. so neither the hood or the hose are damaged when the hood is closed.

Caution!
Check that hose cannot contact the throttle pulley especially in wide-open position.

- Attach the T-valve to the left door mirror using tape.

Note!
Protect the door mirror and fender edge with foam protection as shown in the illustration.

CONNECTING THE FUEL EVACUATION UNIT

The unit must be operating when the measuring equipment's hose is connected to the engine in order to reduce the risk of fuel spillage.

Operations:

- Connect the fuel evacuation unit hose to the T-valve on the door mirror (position 3 in the illustration).

- Turn the T-valve cock to the middle position (position 2 in the illustration).

- Start the evacuation unit to get suction in the measurement unit hose to the engine.

Operations:

- Tighten the nipple on the fuel manifold.

Caution!
Check that there is no fuel leakage and that the evacuation unit is operating while the nipple is connected to the engine.

- Turn the T-valve cock so that it is pointing toward the engine (position 1 in the illustration) to shut off the suction from the evacuation equipment.

- Use a tie-strap to lock the cock in the position toward the engine.

- Remove the evacuation unit hose from the T-valve hose connection.

- Turn off the evacuation unit when the hose is empty.

- Arrange the measuring equipment hose along the rubber trim on cowl cover at the left hood hinge in such a position that the hose and hood are not damaged.

- Carefully close the hood.
