Connecting and disconnecting the control module
The control module must be isolated when connecting or disconnecting the test box or connectors.
^ Switch off the ignition.
^ Remove fuse number 1(740, 940) or 31(760, 960).

Switch off the ignition when:
^ Connecting and disconnecting test instruments.
^ Connecting and disconnecting connectors.
^ Connecting and disconnecting electrical leads to the ignition coil and spark plugs.
^ Taking readings with an ohmmeter.

When carrying out compression tests:
^ Disconnect the 2-pole connector on the Ignition coil (to prevent a flash-over to the electrical system wiring harness).
^ Remove the connectors from the injectors (to prevent the engine flooding, engine oil being contaminated etc).

Battery
When testing the various components it is important that battery voltage is normal (approx. 12V). If necessary a battery charger can be connected during testing.
Maximum permitted charging current: 15 A at 16V.
^ Do not remove the battery leads when the engine is running.
^ Remove the battery leads when boost charging.
^ Do not use a boost charger or a higher voltage than 16V to aid starting.

Fire risk
Take great care to avoid sparks, especially when testing the Injectors.

High tension

Warning! The DI system operates at high power and dangerous voltages in the high tension circuit.

Control modules
^ The control module should not be heated above 80°C (176°F). Remove control modules when stoving for example.
^ Disconnect the control module connectors when arc welding.
^ The control module should be removed if arc welding is to be carried out near it.
^ Do not replace the control module without checking electrical leads and components. A fault could otherwise dam- age the new control module in the same way as the original.

Cleanliness
^ Pay attention to cleanliness when working on the fuel system.
^ Clean fuel connections carefully before dismantling them.

Gaskets, seals
^ Always use new gaskets and seals when a connection has been dismantled.
