CHECKING OIL QUANTITY
Oil quantity must be checked if compressor is new or repaired. Oil for refrigerant R12: 1160048-3. If system has been converted to R134a, use ester oil 1161442-7.
Proceed as follows:
Drain compressor oil into measuring glass and note quantity.
Fill new or repaired compressor with same quantity, but not less than 40 ml (0.042 US qt.).
Coat O-ring on plug with compressor oil. Tighten plug to 10 Nm (7 ft lb).
However, if rapid leakage of refrigerant has occurred, for example due to hose rupture, compressor must be filled with 135 ml (0.142 US qt.) of oil.
Installation
NOTE: Check oil quantity before installing compressor.
