DTC 323
FE. DTC 3-2-3
3-2-3 Lock-up slipping or not engaged
Principle of operation
The TCM computes the ratio between the transmission input shaft speed and the speed of the car. DTC 3-2-3 is recorded if the TCM detects a difference between the engine speed and transmission input shaft speed although lock-up is activated.
Note!
The transmission speed signal is not available in 4th gear when clutch CO is at rest.
Fault description
The DTC indicates a mechanical fault in the transmission and can hardly be caused by a control system fault. The MIL lights, the TCM limp-home emergency program is activated and the transmission operates only in 4th gear.
1
The DTC indicates a mechanical fault in the transmission
Some transmission component is becoming worn and causing low line pressure. A fault of this type usually takes the form of noise or other obvious mechanical malfunction.
2
Erase DTCs
Start by erasing DTCs as described in Testing and Inspection, Procedures. Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes
3
Test drive car
Test drive car and listen particularly for noise which may indicate mechanical fault in transmission.
4
If DTC returns, replace transmission
If DTC 3-2-2 is again displayed during test driving, troubleshooting may be concluded and transmission replaced.
If MIL does not flash, carry out mechanical troubleshooting as described in Section DA. 'DTC 1-1-1' Testing and inspection, Procedures.
