External Engine Components Removal

SPECIAL TOOLS
- Stand tool No. 999 252O, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke tool No. 999 2810, or equivalent
- Gear Segment tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent
- Fixture tool No. 999 5297, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke tool No. 999 5428, or equivalent
- Lifting Lug tool No. 999 5429, or equivalent
- Tool No. 999 5459, or equivalent
- Lifting Lug tool No. 999 5464, or equivalent

PROCEDURE

NOTE: This procedure starts with engine removed from the vehicle, Refer to Engine Removal for this procedure. Removal





1. Remove gearbox
- Removing gearbox:
- Remove starter motor.
- Remove dipstick and pipe.
- Remove torque converter bolts.

NOTE:
^ It is recommended to undo the lower gearbox/engine bolts (which are difficult to reach) before putting the engine assembly on the floor (on a suitable underlay).
^ Take the weight off the gearbox.
^ Undo the remaining bolts and remove the gearbox carefully.





2. Remove carrier/flex plate
- Use gear segment tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent.
- Remove carrier/flex plate.





3. Mount engine on stand
- Use stand tool No. 999 2520 and fixture tool No. 999 5297 or equivalents.
- Remove engine lifting tools.





4. Stripping, rear engine components.





5. Stripping, exhaust side components.





6. Stripping, intake side components.
