Replacement of Components - Engine Removed

ENGINE REPLACEMENT - TRANSFER OF COMPONENTS

Special Tools Needed: 2520, 2810, 5112, 5297, 5428, 5429.





Remove Transmission
- Remove starter motor, fluid dipstick and dipstick tube.
- Unbolt torque converter from carrier plate (Torx 40).
- Undo connector at transmission.
- Separate transmission from engine.





Remove Carrier Plate
- Use gear sector 5112.
- Remove carrier plate.





Mount Engine in Stand
- Use stand 2520 and fixture 5297.
- Remove lifting tools.





Transfer of Components - Rear
1. Connector bracket
2. Lifting lug 5429.
3. Camshaft position sensor.
4. Temperature sensor.
5. Coolant hoses.
6. Coolant pipe.
7. Timing pick-up.





Transfer of Components - Right Side
1. Ignition coil cover.
2. Ignition coils.
3. Coolant pipe.
4. Heat shield.
5. flight-hand engine mounting.
6. Lifting hook.
7. Manifold, torque 25 Nm (18 ft.lb). Use new gaskets.





Transfer of Components - Left Side
1. Injectors and fuel distribution manifold.
2. Intake manifold. Use new gaskets.
3. Knock sensor, torque 20 Nm (15 ft.lb).
4. Wiring harness retaining bolts.
5. Left-hand engine mounting with collision buffer.
6. Oil trap and hoses.
7. Alternator.





Remove Engine From Stand
- Use lifting lug 5429 and lifting yokes 2810, 5428.

NOTE: Position wiring harnesses so as to avoid damage when lifting.





Install Carrier Plate
- Use gear segment 5112.
- Use new bolts and apply thread locking compound.

Tighten in Two Stages:
- To 45 Nm (33 ft.lb.).
- Through 50 degrees.





Reinstall Transmission and Torque Converter
- Tighten toque converter bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft.lb) (Torx 40).
- Reconnect connectors.
- Reinstall fluid dipstick and tube.
- Install starter motor.
