ECC With A/C Function
The ECC climate unit can itself detect certain system faults and display the appropriate diagnostic trouble code (DTC) by flashing of the light in the A/C button. The control module is programmed to "make the best" of the situation in the event of a fault. Under these conditions, the control module ignores the faulty signal and selects a preset value. The control module can also prevent the activation of faulty out puts.
If the control module detects one or more faults, the driver is warned by flashing of the A/C button. The DTC(s) may subsequently be "requested" in the workshop by setting the panel controls in a certain manner.
Note: The absence of a DTC is, in itself, no guarantee that the system is fault-free.
Warning to driver
The driver is warned of the presence of a fault by continuous flashing of the A/C button when the ignition is switched on.
When the engine is started, the driver is also informed if the fault is "serious" or "minor".
- In the case of a serious fault, the lamp will flash continuously while the engine is running.
- In the case of a minor fault, the lamp will flash for approx. 20 seconds after the engine has been started.
Fault indication to technician
The following conditions must be fulfilled when a DTC is requested:
- Engine running
- Blower selector in AUTO setting
- Function selector in VENT setting
- Temperature switch set to max. cooling
- Rec. switch pressed in
- A/C switch released (out)
Display of DTCs
Each DTC consists of three digits.
Example: DTC 132
The digit 1 is indicated by a single flash. Afier an interval, this is followed by digit 3 (three flashes) and after a second interval, by digit 2 (two flashes).
Three different DTCs can be stored in the memory simultaneously. Only one DTC can be displayed at a time. (For this reason, it may be appropriate to make several requests to ensure that no DTC is missed.)
A strong light (not a fluorescent tube) must be placed close to the solar sensor, otherwise the DTC for the sensor will be displayed even if the device is fault-free. (If this is forgotten, the ignition must be switched off before the next request is made, otherwise the DTC will be displayed in any case).
The A/C button may now be made to display a ashing DTC by pressing it in and releasing it within 5 seconds.
(To allow the control module time for fault diagnosis and stabilization, a DTC should not be requested within the first 5 seconds afier the engine has been started.)
If several DTCs are stored, they will be displayed repeatedly. For example:
3 DTCs:
DTC1, DTC2, DTC3, DTC1, DTC 2...........................
2 DTCs:
DTC1 ,DTC2, DTC1 ,DTC2........................................
1 DTC:
DTC1, DTC 1, DTC 1.............................................
All DTCs will be erased when the ignition is switched off.
If no fault is detected, the "fault-free" code (111) will be displayed.
