High Idling Speed
FAULT TRACING INFORMATIONConditions
^ DTCs absent.
^ Engine warm.
^ Fault permanent.
Fault Sources
^ Throttle cable binding.
^ Throttle Body (TB) badly adjusted.
^ Air leakage.
^ Defective Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve.
TESTING PROCEDURE
Check Throttle Cable
^ Check throttle cable Is not binding or slack.
^ Continue with: Check Throttle Opening, section below.
Check Throttle Opening
^ START engine and allow to idle.
^ Read off value of throttle angle.
Throttle angle should read 9.5° - 11.5° at Closed Throttle Position (CTP).
If value OK:
- Proceed to: Check Air Leakage in Intake System, section below.
If value differs:
- Adjust TB and pulley.
Check Air Leakage in Intake System
^ Check for air leakage.
If no air leakage detected:
- Proceed to: Check Air Leakage in Exhaust System, section below.
If air leakage detected:
- Fix as necessary.
Check Air Leakage in Exhaust System
^ Check for air leakage.
If no air leakage detected:
- Proceed to: Check IAC Valve Connector, section below.
If air leakage detected:
- Fix as necessary.
Check IAC Valve Connector
^ Clean and grease ECM and IAC valve connector.
If symptom persists:
- Test with a new IAC valve.
