Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Release oxygen sensor wire from transmission support member routing clip. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connectors.
3. Remove front exhaust pipe.
4. Disconnect fluid temperature sensor connector and disconnect wire from front fluid pipe.
5. Disconnect fluid temperature sensor from front fluid pipe.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply a small amount of transmission fluid to new temperature sensor O-ring.
b. Torque temperature sensor to 7 ft. lbs.
c. Connect Volvo Diagnostic Key to diagnostic output and delete any stored trouble codes. The code 1-1-1 should be displayed when all trouble codes have been deleted.
