Test Equipment

A break-out box, 9813190, and two different adapters, 9813193 and 9813194, are now available to facilitate testing. Adapter 9813193 is used for troubleshooting the Motronic 1.8 system and 9813194 for the AW3O-40/Aw30-43 TCM.





Break-out box

Break-out box 9813190 consists of a case equipped with 60 test terminals and an interface cable fitted with a connector.
The terminals are numbered from 1 to 60 as shown in the figure.





AW TCM

The following applies to connection of the break-out box to the AW TCM, which is equipped with 30 and 16-pin connectors (A+B):

The terminals in connector A (engine side) are numbered 1-30.
The terminals in connector B (car side) are numbered 31-48.
Adapter 9813194 is used to connect the box.

Tip!
Two break-out boxes may be used for convenience when carrying out measurements on the TCM and Motronic 1.8 at the same time.





Use of break-out box

1 Measurement with control module in circuit (operating circuit):

The break-out box is connected between the control module and its connector, enabling voltage measurements to be made with the system in operation.





2 Measurements without control module (split circuit):

The break-out box may be connected either to the control module connector or to the connector on the control module box, enabling resistance measurements to be made without interference from other systems.
