Test mode 5: Reading data

The transmission fluid temperature, vehicle speed, transmission speed and throttle opening are read continuously in test mode 5.
These values vary continuously and are displayed as flashing codes.





Reading data with ST

- Search for text MODE 5: READ DATA. Press * using arrow keys.
- Press * and select desired function with arrow keys.
- Press * to display value when function has been Selected.





Reading data manually

- Press test button five times (test mode 5).
- Lamp will respond by flashing for duration of 3 seconds.





- Enter selected code. Enter one digit each time lamp flashes.
- Lamp will respond by displaying current value for function (sensor) in question.

Note!
When reading data manually, the response will take the form of a flashing code which requires the use of a special conversion table. The response to each of the entry codes listed below will be a code and corresponding conversion value in the table, NOT the actual value. Use the Volvo ST to read the continuous value directly.

Note!
This table gives the same value for fluid temperature as indicated by the Volvo ST or by resistance measurement.

Code 4 - 2 - 4 Vehicle speed Value: mph

Note!
The same mph-value for the vehicle speed occurs for two different response codes in the table due to the conversion from km/h to miles per hour.

Example 1: Entry code 4-3-4 and response code 3-2-4 mean that the transmission speed is 4200 rev/mm Example 2: Entry code 4-4-4 and response code 2-2-5 mean that the throttle opening is 74%
