Rear Sensor

REAR SENSOR, REPLACEMENT (MULTILINK)
Special tool: 999 5972

A01. Remove spare wheel
A02. Fold back carpet to expose fuel filler pipe





A03. Remove both covers over filler pipe
A04. Break sensor lead connector seal
Undo connector.





A05. Press out sensor lead and grommet





A06. Raise car
Position assembly hoist and fixture 9995972 under rear axle member.





AO7. Undo bolts (two on each side) securing member to body
AO8. Lower rear axle slightly
Lower carefully to ensure that propeller shaft does not press against fuel tank.





AO9. Disconnect right-hand parking brake cable from its quadrant
AO10. Free sensor lead from clips
Note how lead is run.
AO11. Clean area around sensor and remove unit

Installation





AO12. Oil new sensor O-ring.





AO13. Install new sensor
Tighten screw to 8 - 12 Nm (6 - 9 ft. lbs.).
Clip lead in position.





A014. Push lead and grommet through opening
AO15. Connect right-hand parking brake cable to quadrant





AO16. Raise rear axle
Use assembly hoist and fixture 999 5972 positioned under rear axle member.





A017. Install bolts (four)
Tighten bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.), then through 60°.
A018. Lower car





AO19. Seat cable grommet in position in body opening. Reconnect and seal connector
AO20. Clip lead around fuel filler pipe and reinstall covers over pipe
A021. Fold down carpet. Reinstall spare wheel and refit cover
