Park / Neutral Position Function

The gear-shift position sensor has a start inhibit function to prevent starting of the engine while a gear is selected.
This function prevents the engine from being started unless the Neutral or Park positions are selected. This prevents the car from inadvertently lurching forwards when started.
The neutral safety switch / start inhibitor switch is an integrated part of the gear-shift position sensor / transmission position switch/sensor.
