Steering Column: Description and Operation

On this steering column the steering wheel driving position can be set to three different positions. The upper steering column is equipped with a universal joint which makes these settings possible. The steering position is set with a small lever (1) on the left-hand side under the steering wheel.

Most of the housing on this steering column and the upper part of the steering shaft is of aluminum

The upper part of the steering shaft is thicker and equipped with differently sized splines in this version.

There is a new type of built in collapsible coupling (2) in the steering column. The collapsible length is approximately 60% longer than previously. The lower steering shaft can be compressed further in event of a collision.

Note!
When replacing the steering column the entire assembly must be replaced.
