Disconnection of door key activation - Basic car alarm

Where customers only want remote control activation of the alarm, the door key activation function can be disconnected. This prevents the alarm from being deactivated should the car be broken into by forcing the door lock cylinder.

To disconnect the key activation function it is necessary to remove and insulate a cable at the Central Relay Module in the car.

The door key activation function can be reinstated by reconnecting the cable.

Method:

Central Relay Module:

Remove:

- sound insulation on left side

- detach the Central Relay Module by pressing on the locking spring

- pull out the relay module

- central locking relay

Remove:

Relay Sockets And Extraction Tool:

- yellow-black cable at position AT using tool P/N 9814235-9.

The method for removal/installation is described in Service Manual Section 3 (37) Wiring repairs and replacement of cable terminals, 850, 900, page 30.

Fold cable double and insulate

Tape cable carefully on to the central relay module so that there is no chance it will come loose and cause noise or short circuit.

Reinstall:

- central locking relay

- central relay module, check that the locking spring on the module is securely fastened to the bracket

- sound insulation

Verify functions

Check alarm functions by locking the car with the remote control unit, which will also activate the alarm.

Check 1)
That the alarm is not deactivated when the door lock is operated with the key.

Check 2)
That the alarm is activated when the door is opened.
