Lubricating the folding mechanism in the integrated child seat

The folding mechanism is to be lubricated according to the method described in this service bulletin if the integrated child seat back is stiff to fold out. Use silicone lubricant P/N 1161325-4.

Lubricate the folding mechanism

Remove:




- The cover panel by inserting a finger behind the upper side of the panel and pulling one side at a time to the side/forward.

Note
The panel can break if is pulled straight forward or pried upward.

Adjust backrest position




- Adjust backrest position as shown.

LUBRICATE THE LOCKING MECHANISM




- Apply silicone lubricant (P/N 1161325-4) to locking cams in the backrest shaft. Use a brush.

Note
Make sure the lubricant penetrates between the spring-loaded plastic block and the 2 locking cams on the backrest shaft.

- Fold the backrest fully forward.
- Apply silicone lubricant (P/N 1161325-4) to locking cams in the backrest shaft. Use a brush.




Note
Make sure that the lubricant is applied to the friction surfaces of the cams as shown.

Reinstall cover panel

- Fold backrest fully up.




- Press panel into position.

Ease seat movement to distribute the silicone lubricant




- Fold the backrest slowly forward several times so the lubricant is evenly distributed on the fiction surfaces of the locking mechanism

Note
The lubricant is properly distributed when the backrest feels stiff about 100 mm (4 in) from the fully closed position and then moves easily.
