Replacement of spring in locking button, inner door opener 960, 1995-
Note
The replacement is carried out without removing the handle from the door. Since only the spring. pin and inner door opening control mechanism will be sold as replacement parts (besides the inner door handle complete with cables), it is not necessary to remove the inner handle from the door when the spring or pin is to be replaced.
As a result the method is slightly different from that described in Service Manual 8 (82-86 88) Interior, exterior Please make the following note in the Service manual, at the top of page 16
"Refer to Service Bulletin 8-83-916".
Remove:
- door panel. (see TP 8202201 Service Manual 8 (82-86, 88) Interior, exterior, page 12)
Use a drift to remove the pin holding the locking button and control.
Hold with index finger so that the spring does not fly off the locking button and control mechanism. Wear proper eye protection.
Note
If door opener is on right-side door: Tap out pin from bottom and up.
If door opener is on left-side door: Tap out pin from top and down.
Remove:
- spring.
- control mechanism that operates door lock.
- button that blocks the lock in the locked position.
Install (left side):
- spring in control mechanism.
Lock control mechanism with pin.
Install:
- spring in locking button
- locking button.
Install:
- pin.
Tap pin into place.
Install (right side).
In reverse order.
