Anti rubbing protective film

Background:
A transparent protective film which prevents rub marks occurring on the sill paintwork has been introduced as a service remedy.

Minor rub marks can occur on cars equipped with road noise suppression moldings under the doors. Road noise suppression moldings were brought into production from and including chassis no.:

Materials:
Protective film front door 9447730-4

Protective film rear door 9447731-2

Suggestions for cleaning agent: Cleaning agent for aluminum wheels alternatively concentrated windshield washer fluid

Tools:
Spray bottle with water

Method for installing protective film:

Clean paintwork

- Clean area where film will be applied.

Use "cleaning agent for wheels" or "concentrated windshield washer fluid".

NOTE!
Use protective gloves!





- Check the sill surface where film will be applied (see illustration).

Rustproofing agent from the door draining holes may have run onto the sills. This must be removed before installing the protective film.

It is important to polish out any rub marks.

Larger damage may require repainting.

Installing protective film





- Dampen area of sill where the film will be applied with water (see illustration).

- Remove backing paper from the film and dampen the adhesive side with water.





- Apply the film on the flat surface of the sill as illustrated.

- On the front door the film should be mounted from the S in SIPS and forward.

- On the rear door the film should be mounted on the panel join on the sill and forward.

- Press the film into place with paper wipe and smooth down so that no blisters remain under the film.

NOTE!
After installation leave the car doors open for at least 3 hours to allow the film adhesive to dry.

WARRANTY STATEMENT: Claims may be submitted under the new car limited warranty when there is a customer complaint for rub marks on doorsill using claim type:01.
