GENERAL INFORMATION

ODOR FROM EVAPORATOR, INSTALLATION OF BLOWER FAN CONTROL MODULE

A customer may complain of an odor from the ventilation system. The A/C system evaporator may give off an odor.

Service bulletin 8-87-948 describes how to clean the evaporator. Follow that procedure first.

If not successful, then perform the operation described in this bulletin - installation of a control module which starts the blower fan and can air out residual dampness from the evaporator. If the compressor has been running more than 4 minutes and the ignition is turned off for approx. 50 minutes the control module will automatically start the blower fan and run an airing-out cycle at max blower speed for approx. 5 minutes

Note
The evaporator must be cleaned immediately before installing the control module. Repeat, if necessary then, the cleaning procedure shown in service bulletin 8-87-948
