Preparations For Spraying

PREPARATIONS FOR SPRAYING

OPEN THE EVAPORATOR DRAINAGE




- Check the evaporator is clear. Clear drain if required.
- Place a small container under the evaporator drainage. Place it on the right front member.

START ENGINE AND RUN UP TO WORKING TEMPERATURE.

- Select recirculation, set temperature control to max. heat and select max. blower speed. All ventilation outlets should be fully open.




- Turn off A/C compressor by disconnecting the cable terminal (see arrow) from the pressure switch (pressostat) in the engine compartment.

NOTE!
If the defroster position is selected on the control panel then the compressor is under override control and will start up.

- Start engine.

Allow engine to run at operating temperature for 20 minutes to expel all moisture from evaporator.

Carry out operation A3 while running engine up to temperature.

PREPARE AS2 NOZZLE ASSEMBLY

- Shake bottle well

- Remove cap and attach bottle to nozzle (rubber hose attached in previous step)




- Attach nozzle to shop air gun. Use 80 120 psi air pressure.

DISCONNECTING BATTERY LEADS

- Stop engine.
- Disconnect battery ground lead.

REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND SOUND INSULATION

^ Remove glove compartment and sound insulation following method in Service Manual.

Carry out A6 or A7 according to model variant

Important!
Do not disconnect power stage / blower connectors!

REMOVE BLOWER RESISTOR.




700/900 models without ECC, includes 700-1987.

- Remove Power Stage on outside of blower housing by removing two screws.

780 models with ECC




- Remove power stage by removing four screws.

REMOVE BLOWER MOTOR.




700 1988-, 940 SE and 980 models with ECC.

^ Remove blower motor following method described in Service Manual.

INSPECT AND VACUUM CLEAN THE EVAPORATOR

- Inspect the evaporator by using a flashlight and mirror.

- Clean evaporator using vacuum cleaner.

^ Where a great deal of dirt has accumulated on the evaporator it must be removed and cleaned very carefully.
