Inspection 5-Door Models

CHECKING CONTROL MODULE ON 5-DOOR MODELS (700/900) FOR MOISTURE DAMAGE TO PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD

On 5-door models, the control module printed circuit board may, in certain cases, be damaged by moisture due to the accumulation of water in the protective housing.




- Disconnect control module connector by depressing the spring catch and pulling the connector upward.




- Remove housing cover and printed circuit board.
- Inspect board for visible signs of moisture damage. If board is damaged, control module, p/n 3533347-5, must be replaced.

DRAINAGE OF PROTECTIVE HOUSING ON 5-DOOR MODELS (700/900)

To prevent recurrence of damage to the control module due to moisture, the protective housing should be drained in the course of all work on the electric antenna in 5-door models, when installing a new antenna or when replacing the control module or complete antenna.




Disconnect control module connector by depressing spring catch and pulling connector upward.




- Remove housing cover and printed circuit board.

Caution:
Protective eyewear should be worn.




- Drill 6 mm (15/64") dia. hole in bottom of control module housing at rear inner corner (see illustration). Clean away drilling chips.
