Transmission Control Systems: Locations






Connectors for AW 30-40, AW 30-43

The transmission control system incorporates five unique connectors, two connected to the TCM and two to the transmission itself. Otherwise, the transmission control system wiring is incorporated in the ordinary wiring harnesses, mainly on the left-hand side of the car.
The connectors (both TCM and transmission) are of Volvo's standard types.

TCM connectors

Connector A: 30-pin
Connector B: 16-pin

The signals and signal characteristics for each terminal of the TCM 30-pin connector are shown in the table. Since terminals 1, 2, 5,10,13, 15,18, 23, 24,27, 28 and 29 are not used, they are not included.





The signals and signal characteristics for each terminal of the TCM 1 6-pin connector are shown in the table. Since terminals 3,12,13 and 14 are not used, they are not included.





Gearbox connectors

Three connectors which connect the transmission to the control system are located at the left front side of the unit.
