Test mode 1: Self-diagnostics

Test mode 1 enables any DTCs stored in the TCM memory while the car is being driven to be displayed. The DTCs are stored in order of priority. Since the TCM can store a maximum of five DTCs, the faults must be corrected and the DTCs erased before further DTCs can be displayed.





Displaying DTCs with Volvo ST

- Search for text MODE1: DIAGNOSTICS. Press * using arrow keys.
- Press * key to display first DTC.
- Note DTC and repeat procedure until first DTC is again displayed.
- Press * until text MODE1: DIAGNOSTICS Press * is displayed.
- Erase DTCs as described below and correct fault(s) in accordance with instructions in Testing and Inspection, Procedures. Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

Erasing DTCs with ST

- Search for text Erase EL. GEARBOX. Press * using arrow keys.
- Follow instructions given in display window.





Displaying DTCs manually.

- Press test button on DLC once.
- Display and note first DTC.
- Check if further DTCs are stored by pressing button once more.
- Display and note all DTCs until first DTC is repeated.

Erasing DTCs manually.

All DTCs must be displayed once before they can be erased. The DTCs may be erased when the first one to be displayed is repeated.

- Depress DLC test button for at least 5 seconds.
- LED will light 3 seconds after button has been released.
- Depress DLC test button for at least another 5 seconds.
- LED should go out when button is released.
- Check that DTCs have been erased by pressing button once.
- DTCs have been erased if code 1-1-1 is displayed.
