Front Wiper Linkage and Motor Replacement
- Remove the battery negative lead.
- Raise the hood fully.
- Remove wiper arms.
- Remove rubber seals.
- Remove screws retaining the plastic cover over the wiper recess.
- Disconnect the drain hoses.
- Lift away the protector.
- Unscrew screws (3) and stops/plastic nuts (4) which retain the wiper linkage.
- Unplug the connector and unscrew the ground lead.
- Lift away the wiper linkage.
- Unscrew the axle nut (5), taking note of the washer (6).
- Remove the three screws (7) retaining the motor, also taking note of spacers (8).
- Remove motor
NOTE: The screws and spacer are of different sizes.
- Reassemble in reverse order
Check that spacers (1) and (2) are in place.
NOTE: Before the plastic cover is replaced. see that the motor arm and the link arm are dead in line with the mounting.
The motor should be in park position.
Torque:
Motor axle nut (5): 26 Nm (19.2 ft.lb)
Screw (3): 22 Nm (16.2 ft.lb)
Washer (4): 3.5 Nm (2.6 ft.lb)
Grounding screw (9): 12.5 Nm (9.2 ft.lb)
- Make sure that the rubber seal to the rear of the cover plate is correctly positioned.
- Adjust wiper arms.
