Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information EFI-143, 433

Condition




If engine coolant temperature (ECT) exceeds 40°C, engine speed exceeds 2500 rpm, load exceeds 3.0 ms and the signal from the knock sensor (KS) is missing for 6 seconds the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored for that knock sensor (KS).

Substitute value
- knock control is disabled
- ignition retarded for safety reasons.
- initial boost pressure adopted.

Possible source
- short-circuit to ground in signal cable
- open-circuit in signal cable or ground lead
- contact resistance in terminals
- defective knock sensor (KS).

Fault symptom[s]
- poor performance due to retarded ignition.
- poorer performance due to boost pressure.
