Volvo On-Board Diagnostic System

VOLVO ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM (OBD II)

The Volvo On-Board Diagnostic (OBD II) System can be used to:

^ Read and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), counters and frozen values
^ Activate components/functions in accordance with predetermined patterns
^ Continuously monitor the value of the system's input and output signals
^ Read Engine Control Module (ECM) identification.

The Data Link Connector (DLC) is common to the Volvo On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System and the statutory OBD II diagnostics system (On Board Diagnostics II). OBD II is only available in USA/CDN markets.

To activate the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system for the Motronic 4.4:

- Ignition ON
- Battery voltage must be above 11 Volts.

To activate components / functions:

- Engine must be OFF
