SRS/SIPS Decals

Warning and information decals

Decals, located in the following positions, call attention to the fact that the car is equipped with SRS and that it requires special treatment.

Location Of Components, Warning and Information Decals (On the Windshield):

On the windshield
Displays that the car is equipped with SRS.
The SRS decal is combined with a SIPS-bag decal.

Location Of Components, Warning and Information Decals (On the Left Underside of the Hood):

On the left underside of the hood
Never remove the steering column or steering gear without first locking the contact reel and removing the steering wheel.

Location Of Components - Warning and Information Decals Inside the Car (On B Pillar):

SRS decals on the driver's side B-post
Airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners must be inspected or replaced after a specified period.
The SRS label on the B-post displays the inspection year and month for the steering wheel module (driver's airbag), the passenger module (passenger airbag) and the SIPS airbag.

When replacing the steering wheel airbag module / passenger airbag module or the SIPS airbag
When replacing the steering wheel airbag module / passenger airbag module or the SIPS airbag, the decal displaying the year and month must be replaced with the decal included with the new component.
The figure shows the replacement of the date decal for the steering wheel airbag module.

On the dashboard and end (passenger side)
This decal is a warning not to put a child seat on the front passenger seat.

Warning! Never put a child seat on the front passenger seat if the car is equipped with an SRS (Airbag) on the passenger side.

On the side of the dashboard
The decal warns against using upholstery that does not conform to Volvo safety specifications on the driver's seat and front passenger seat, and that accessories must not be installed on the side or in the vicinity of SIPS airbags.

Location Of Components - Warning and Information Decals (On the Glove Box Lid if the Passenger Airbag Module is Disconnected):

On the glove box lid if the passenger airbag module is disconnected
The decal located on the top right of the glove box lid shows that the passenger module airbag is disconnected.
The four-language decal is used in all markets (except Sweden).
The Swedish language decal is used in the Nordic markets (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland). It is located directly below the four- language decal.

Caution! The SRS ignition cable for the passenger airbag module can be disconnected if the customer wishes in markets where this does not conflict with statutory requirements. This makes it possible to place a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat.
