Input Shaft Seal




Special Tools
- Extractor tool No. 999 5489, or equivalent
- Drift tool No. 999 5490, or equivalent

- Refer to special tool section for additional tool information. Tools and Equipment

Preparations
- Before replacing gearbox input shaft seal, follow:
Steps 1 through 26 of transmission removal. [1][2]Procedures
Step 2 of clutch replacement. [1][2]Procedures





1. Remove throwout (release) bearing sleeve.
- Remove the three screws holding the sleeve.





2. Tap in extractor tool No. 999 5489, or equivalent.

NOTE: Jackscrew in extractor must be unscrewed.

- Check that extractor grips input shaft seal. Remove Input shaft seal.





3. Install new input shaft seal.
- Grease input shaft seal lip.
- Use drift tool No. 999 5490, or equivalent
- Tap seal in until drift touches transmission cover.
4. Install throwout (release) bearing sleeve.
- Apply a little locking fluid to the bolts.
- Install the three bolts and tighten to: 10 Nm.
