Replacing the lift mechanism motor and mechanical cable for side window

Removal

Removing the lift mechanism motor with mechanical cable from the power window lift mechanism cassette





Caution! The lift mechanism motor must not be operated when the cables are not tensioned as they could get caught up in the motor.

Remove:
- the door panel. Components front side door, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the power window lift mechanism cassette from the door. Components front side door, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the window from the power window lift mechanism cassette.
Turn the mechanical cable cover adjusters (4) a quarter turn. Pull the adjusters straight out.

Remove:
- the cables from the carriage (1).

Note! The position of the adjustment screw on carriage (1) must not be changed when replacing the lift mechanism motor. This makes it easier to adjust the window when the power window lift mechanism cassette is in the door.

- the cables from the four wheels (3)
- the screw on the carriage (2) so that the cable can be removed from it.
Replace the motor and mechanical cables.

Hint: Mark the outlets by which the cables leave the motor.

Remove the 5 screws. Remove the power window lift motor cover.
Remove the mechanical cable drum with the 2 mechanical cables. The drum is secured on splines.

Note! If the cables are removed while in the up position, the rear cable is wound up four revolutions.

Installation

Installing the cables on the motor




Place the rear cable on the three upper windings on the cable drum and the front cable on the remaining winding.

Install:
- the mechanical cable drum on the splines. Install the cover
- the 5 screws.

Check that the cable is routed around all the four wheels.
Secure the cables in the carriage (1).
Adjust the cable tension using the two cable's� cover adjusters (4).
Measure the distance from the underside of the rail to the underside of the carriage (1).
Secure the mechanical cable to the carriage (2). Finger-tighten the screw. The distance from the underside of the rail and the underside of the carriage (2) must be 25 mm more than the corresponding distance at the other carriage (1).
Tighten the cable screw on the carriage (2).

Install:
- the window on the power window lift mechanism cassette
- the power window lift mechanism cassette in the door. Components front side door, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the door panel. Components front side door, replacing Removal and Replacement.
