Faulty Signal. Intermittent Fault
Faulty signal. Intermittent fault
Checking the cable
- Ignition off
- Visually check the control switch.
Check the control module connector A. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults. Check for an intermittent short-circuit between A9 and A10.
Connect an ohmmeter between control module connector A9 and A10. Check for an intermittent short-circuit between the cables.
If a short-circuit is found, check the control switch connector for an intermittent short-circuit between 3 and 6.
Disconnect the control switch.
Connect an ohmmeter between control switch 3 and 6. Check for an intermittent short-circuit.
Replace the control switch if a short-circuit is found.
If there is no short-circuit in the control switch, the fault is in the cable between the control module and the control switch connectors.
Remedy as necessary.

Connect an ohmmeter in order between A9 and ground and between A10 and ground. Check for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
If a short-circuit is found, check the control switch connector for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
- Disconnect the control switch
- Check the function of the control switch.
Connect an ohmmeter between control switch 3 and ground and 6 and ground. Check for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Replace the control switch if any of the control switch contact breakers are constantly closed or there is an intermittent short-circuit to ground.
If there is no short-circuit to ground in the control switch, the fault is in the cable between the control module and the control switch connectors.
Remedy as necessary.
