Cylinder Block

Cylinder block

The cylinder block is divided into three components cylinder block, intermediate section and oil pan. The mating flange between the cylinder block and intermediate section is in the crankshaft center line.

The cylinder block has five cast iron cylinder sleeves cast into the cylinder block which are not replaceable. The lining thickness for the 2.5-liter engine is 2 mm and for the 2-liter engine 3 mm.

The six main bearing seats have cast reinforcements in the intermediate section.

On the upper side of the intermediate section there are cast oil ways that distribute oil to the main bearings and big ends via the crankshaft.

The oil pan contributes to the rigid design and operates as an extra reinforcement.
