Bleeding the heater

Preparations




- Raise the car.
- Slacken off the exhaust hose from the heater.
- Remove screw (B) and slacken off screws (A) and (C) halfway.

Removing heater




- Lower heating unit from the car.

Note! Do not undo water hoses.





- Remove rubber grommet in side member and pull out connectors.
- Separate connectors.





- Disconnect fuel line (A) and plug it.
- Plug fuel line. Use counterhold wrench (14mm). Avoid fuel spillages.





- Clamp the water hoses with hose clips on both sides of the joints. The front hose ends are positioned approximately 30 cm in front of the joint (C and D).
- Remove the front clamps (C and D) and remove heater.
- Drain the heater system of coolant (use a container).





- Position heater with plastic cover upwards.
- Fill heater with coolant through joining pipe (B) which is not marked with arrows. Ensure that the coolant reaches joint pipe (A), so that there are no air pockets. Clamp hoses with hose clip.

Installing heater




- Raise heater and hang it up using a tie strap.
- Connect joint pipes to hoses (C and D). Ensure that the joint pipe (A), marked with arrows, is connected to the hose which is nearest the center of the car. Tighten clamps.
- Remove hose clamps.





- Assemble cable harnesses connector.
- Install rubber grommet in the side member.





- Install fuel line (A) but do not tighten it.





- Raise the heater and screw it into place. Check that the water hoses lie correctly and are not kinked.
- Check that the air intake hose is secure and tight to the heater body. Cut off the tie strap which has held the heater during the work.
- Install exhaust hose and tighten clamp.
- Place a counterhold key (14 mm) through the hole (B) and tighten the fuel line (A).
- Undo the expansion tank cover.
- Check heater function by starting it and running it until warm air comes out of the dashboard vents.
- Check all connections for leakage
- Check coolant level in expansion tank and top up if necessary.
