Headlamp Bulb: Service and Repair
Replacing Bulbs:
Replace headlamp bulbs from the engine compartment with ignition and lights off. Replacing right-hand side bulbs is easier if you remove the front control module box air duct (A).
Removing:
CAUTION: Never touch a bulb with your fingers. Grease and oil evaporate in the heat and will leave a deposit on the reflector, destroying it.
Low Beam (Outer Bulb):
Turn cover counter-clockwise and remove cover (A).
Press in spring clip, push to one side and fold down (as shown in B). Right and left-hand sides.
High Beam (Inner Bulb):
Remove the catch and unhook cover (B).
Press in the spring clip and fold to one side (1 and 2).
Remove bulb completely and disconnect the connector.
Replace the bulb. For type of bulb, Specifications
Installing:
- Assemble the connector and ensure that the blade terminal is not outside the female connector as this will lead to a poor connection and cause the insulation to melt.
- Position the bulb. Press the bulb against the reflector and hook on the spring clip. Check that the bulb is positioned correctly.
- Reinstall cover. It can only be screwed into place so that the marking "TOP" is uppermost.
- Reinstall the ventilation duct if working on the right-hand side (as shown in A).
- Check that bulb lights.
