Visual check of SIPS bag

If the SIPS bag does not deploy with side impact

General
A visual inspection of the SIPS bag should be made in the event of minor impact, where the front seat is otherwise undamaged.

Secure the SIPS bag




- Fold up the seat compartment. Lift up the front edge and press the compartment backward.
- Remove the transport lock from the holder on the inside of the seat compartment.
- Install the transport lock on the sensor unit.

Check the SIPS bag system
Check the igniter cable
- Perform a visual inspection of the released section of the igniter cable on the seat.
If there is visual damage to the igniter cable's protective sheath:
- Remove the sheath and check that the igniter cables are not damaged.




Check the sensor unit
- Remove the sensor unit, see item SIPS bag in the front seat, replacing SIPS Bag In the Front Seat, Replacing.
- Remove the transport lock on the sensor unit.

Warning! Exercise care when the SIPS bag is not secured. Never apply physical force to the sensor unit. The aluminium case on the sensor unit must not be indented or buckled.

The sensor unit should be easy to remove and assembled on the SIPS pipe. If the sensor unit is jammed or difficult to remove, it may be buckled.
- Measure the height of the sensor unit as illustrated. The value must not be less 27.0 mm .
- Install the transport lock on the sensor unit.
If the SIPS bag is OK:
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
If any part of the SIPS bag is defective:
Fit a new complete SIPS bag as per SIPS bag in the front seat, replacing SIPS Bag In the Front Seat, Replacing.
