Window lift mechanism cassette
The window lift mechanism cassette is a unit in which the upper member is the cassette frame. Member (1) improves torsional door rigidity and is a component in the side impact protection system (SIPS). It is mounted on the door with 6 screws. The lower mounting consists of two adjustable studs (2).
Window (3) is removable. It is secured in two mountings by screws.
The drive mechanism consists of an electric motor (4) mounted in the door panel. Two cables (5) run through the motor and are secured in the washers for the window (6). On the front mounting the cable is locked with a locking washer (7). In the rear mounting the cable is fixed (8). The cable is routed around the frame using four wheels (9).
It is important to install the cassette in the door correctly.
- install the cassette in the door without tightening screws.
- close the door that check that the door locates properly with the car body.
- if the rear edge of the door locates properly with the car body, tighten screws (2), if not twist the door carefully until it locates properly with the car body.
Other windows
PUR-bonded windows
The windshield and rear windshield are PUR-bonded. When replacing PUR-bonded windows use two-component PUR adhesive.
Rear side windows
The mounting at the front edge of the window consists of two bonded mountings (consisting of a rubber section in which screws are cast).
The window is mounted onto the bodywork by pressing the window mountings into two cut-outs in the B-post.
The rear side windows can be opened with an opening mechanism at the back of the window.
